Orange Colour Day at KITE School ! Mira Road

All the hues of Orange—from deep golden to pastel yellowish—were glittering in KITE School on 16th December… of course, it was Orange Colour Day!


Although few parents forgot about this day and sent their children in regular school uniform yet most of the children seemed prepared.

Different activities, related to orange colour, were designed for different classes for this particular day. Kids in orange dresses did Orange Day activities against the assorted Orange images of various objects and scenes.

The decoration included Orange balloons in plenty. Each child got a balloon while leaving on this day.

Colouring Competition at KITE School

Last week was full of exciting activities in KITE School at Mira Road. First three days we had Colouring Competition for different classes. Little children were quite excited about participating in it and colouring their sheets as per their imagination and choice. The best part was that there was no anxiety of winning and losing. Children were enjoying it as is. Look at few snapshots:

But when the results were displayed, we noticed faces of some parents who were disappointed or a few who were elated. On the other hand few parents send their little ones without colours. Obviously they forgot that we had mentioned in KITEline that children will bring their own colours for the competition. Of course, the school provided them the colours. Each child who was present on the respective day, participated. Here are the winners:

KITE School is O P E N today

KITE School will remain OPEN today inspite of a 'band' call by certain political parties in Mira Bhayandar. This has been decided to enable the students to complete the curriculum uninterruptedly. There are only four working days in this week including today. We would not like to waste one precious day. KITE School hopes that parents will co-operate and support us.
Please send and collect your child on normal timings.
Transport service will also run as usual.

Made-up stories that children make !

Children do make imaginative stories. Many a times these enthrall us. But sometimes parents get worried if their child is becoming a liar. I always consider it as part of blooming of the creativity. It is not only the logic that is part of genuine creative process. Imagination and fantasy are also integral to it. Child’s imaginative made-up stories should not cause a concern just because these are not factual truth. Let the mind take its flight into invented truth. All inventions start out of dreams.


Yes, I do agree that if the content is shocking, we’ll get disturbed as parents. In such cases we should try to find out the very germination of that content instead of taking it too literally on the face value as factual. A TV programme that the child had watched may have the roots of the twisted tale. An unrelated piece of conversation may have shaped up like this. Some incident in the family or neighbourhood might trigger a very different storyline in child’s imagination. Mind has very complicated ways of processing the information.

As you appreciate the imagination of your child, do not ignore the unhealthy part of it. Always keep a watch on your child’s behaviour. Most of the times made-up stories are not worrisome but if the same is also reflected in child’s behaviour then you should try to get to the root of it. Do not panic and do not subject your child to ‘interrogation’. Try to find out in a cool indirect manner.

If it is just a wild imagination of the adventure in the world of fairies, demons and flowers, then enjoy it and appreciate your child’s creative talent.

Preschool is the first lesson of responsibility

As we have completed the first term of this academic session, let me share few thoughts about the fundamentals of preschool learning process.


Preschool is the stage when tiny tots start ‘learning’. And this does not refer to academic learning. This is essentially ‘learning about oneself’, ‘learning to grow meaningfully’. The first step to enter in this realm of learning is to develop a sense of responsibility.

As an aware parent you have to play a key role in this scenario. You should motivate your child at this stage to start taking responsibilities. You can start entrusting small responsibilities in early years, such as, filling his/her water-bottle from the filter to carry school.

This process should be initiated carefully. It is important that the child enjoys the responsibility and he/she should consider it as a special privilege—not a chore. Therefore you should smartly start this training and also keep track of it.

Next time if the child carries out that responsibility without your prompting, then make sure that you acknowledge this very evidently. Your child should undoubtedly ‘feel’ that he/she has done something good.

When parents show their ‘approval’ such responsible behaviour is aptly reinforced.

Now the festive season is at hand and you’ll get many opportunities for this. But be cautious. Be reasonable. You should be sure enough that the responsibility you are giving to the child is not unsafe for the child in any way. Don’t force anything and don’t impose something which may be beyond the child’s capacity. It may backfire.

KITE School Field Trip to Fruit Market

First, let me apologise for not posting for a while. But we assure you that now you'll see this page updated regularly.

KITE School organised a field trip to fruit market for Playgroup and Nursery children. It was a great experience to see the excitement on the faces of the little kids as they answered questions of the teacher. The teachers asked about the name, shape and colour etc. of different fruits. They also explained the comparison of big and small. Children had an exciting interactive session that was first for the tiny-tots.
